Cedric Gegel is an award-winning actor, screenwriter, and director based in the New York City area.  Cedric was born and raised in Wapakoneta, Ohio on a steady diet of country music, I Love Lucy DVDs, and potatoes, and although his tastes eventually shifted to film scores and Broadway (and BTS!), he does still love potatoes.

Survivor.

At twenty years old, Cedric was diagnosed with epithelioid hemangioendothelioma, an extremely rare type of blood vessel cancer that was found in his left elbow. He underwent radiation therapy and had several surgeries to combat the tumor and is now in remission, although the damage from the treatment lingers and still impacts him. Cedric's work and identity as a disabled artist have given him unique perspective on life and art.

Advocate.

Cedric's cancer battle coincided with a diagnosis of clinical depression. Cedric has been overcome that struggle and is now an advocate for mental health awareness and treatments, knowing firsthand how real and terrifying those dark moments can be. Many of his scripts deal with loss, grief, anxiety, and depression, and his public work in advocacy is centered on ascribing humility, vulnerability, and dignity to the self and to others; compassion and empathy encourage kindness.

Artist.

Cedric's work spans stage and screen as a multihyphenate creative force. After a childhood filled with books and playing in the backyard with his three siblings, he... only grew up a little bit. He still plays dress-up, he just does it for a living now.

Cedric is still guided by his imagination, always looking to be challenged by new roles, scripts, and projects. His work has seen him travel the country doing theatre and making films. He lives to tell stories, following in the tradition of one of his mentors, the late Jim Bowsher, a world-renowned storyteller, and to create work that educates, entertains, and inspires (in the footsteps of another mentor, the late Bill Kennedy). He remains deeply engaged with literature, poetry, and theology.

Other passions include American football, Paddington Bear, and spending a great deal of time in nature. A hard worker by nature, he has previously held part-time jobs as a tour guide, a baker, a minister-in-residence, a drama teacher, a substitute teacher, a receptionist, a social media manager, a data entry analyst, a behind-the-scenes photographer, an admissions counselor intern, a babysitter, a McDonald's cashier, and in minor construction, among other things. He now works full-time as a screenwriter, filmmaker, actor, YouTuber, and wannabe Jedi.
